Celina says that she still doesn’t know how closely her and her husband are related. If you haven’t read DNA Results Reveal Family of Five Were Already Related: Part One, follow the link. Because this is part two.
“I was stunned. I was a little down over it, to be honest. But this was after we already had three kids, and all of them were healthy,” says Celina of the couple’s two sons, ages 15 and 13, and their 10-year-old daughter. “They have 10 fingers, 10 toes, but it was just a shock.”
“Joseph was like, ‘Babe, don’t worry about it. It’s not a big deal. Just shrug it off.’ I was like, ‘Should we get a divorce? Are we even meant to be together?’ I started rethinking … and then after a while, I was like, ‘Nope, we’re just staying together.’ There’s nothing we can do about it. I’m not going to let some blood come between us.”
Celina says that she still doesn’t know how closely her and her husband are related, even after they’re already family. The DNA tests came back and indicated they are between second and seventh cousins. This would mean the closest relative potentially in common between to two of them would be a great-grandparent.
After finding out, Celina stopped looking into her family history for a while, but she still wants to know how she and Joseph are related by blood. She decided to share the news on TikTok and thought it would be “funny” to let people know, even though they’re already kin. “I didn’t think anything of it,” she says. “I didn’t think it would go this viral.”
She says she’s happy she made the announcement. “I feel a little more free,” she says. “Like, it is what it is. There are people that love no matter what or who, so why can’t I love my cousin by accident?” Well, that’s one perspective. But at the end of the day, love is love and they’re already family. Nothing is better that family, right?
