She’s a Hollywood superstar with a long list of blockbuster hits to her credit – but there’s one aspect of Margot Robbie that seems to overshadow everything else. Her feet have become the object of a wild obsession among her fans ever since she rose to fame.
Robbie knows about the strange attraction and has spoken out about the ‘weird’ fixation on her feet, but she has a different view on the situation that might surprise you. No matter if it’s in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Suicide Squad, The Wolf of Wall Street or her upcoming film, Barbie, fans can’t get enough of Robbie’s feet whenever they see them. And they’ve been very open about their intense foot fetish for the star. Many have promised that they would buy a ticket to the cinema to watch any movie that features the Australian actor’s feet on the big screen.
Robbie opened up about the frenzy around her feet and said she was actually ‘complimented’ by the internet’s extreme interest in them. She was on an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! last year to talk about Suicide Squad, and she shared a quirky little story with guest host Anthony Anderson about the unusual things she can do with her toes. “I have very nimble toes,” she said, “I could unlock a door, no problem.” Robbie added that she could even ‘plait someone’s hair with [her] toes’ which – surely – drove her army of foot lovers or ‘podophiles’ crazy.
Robbie went on to share a story from Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, directed by the notorious podophile Quentin Tarantino, and said: “I remember we were gonna have to use a stand-in cause I had to leave for another set, but our editor actually edited Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and he was like, ‘Those aren’t Margot Robbie’s feet. I have seen Margot Robbie’s feet’.” James Gunn, the writer and director of Suicide Squad, added: “Trust me, I’m on Twitter, I know people wanna see your feet.” “I don’t know where these people come from,” Gunn said, before imitating the eager fans who ask: “Do we get to see Margot’s feet?”
Totally puzzled by the Harley Quinn feet craze, Gunn said: “That’s what you’re thinking about? We’ve got huge explosions, we’ve got buildings collapsing, we’ve got Idris Elba, John Cena, Margot Robbie, all these great people, but [her feet] are the stars.” They sure are. While many may find the obsession strange, Robbie said that the whole thing doesn’t bother her too much and, instead, actually works as a compliment. “It’s weird,” she said, “but I’m flattered by that.” Who would have guessed it.
